金曜日のテニススクールのレッスンは、今期の最終日。ダブルスのゲームが中心でした。

ダブルスのタイブレーク勝負で 1 - 7 と惨敗したとき、見かねたコーチがアドバイスをくれました。

 二人とも失っているポイントの半分以上が、リターンミスか、
 サーブの後のファーストタッチでのミスですよ。何とか返して
 2往復以上させるようにしないといけません。

次のゲームでは、なんとなく頭の隅でそのことを意識していたようで、何とか返していたら勝てました。するとコーチが「何気に2往復以上させると、勝てるでしょ。」と。

「テニスのポイントはほとんどミスで決まるもので、先にミスしたほうが負ける」というのはよく聞くフレーズですが、分かっているつもりでも、分かってなかったんですね。

2往復という具体的な数字を聞いて、それなら、できそうだと思った反面、たった2往復もできていなかったのかと反省した。そうとう淡白だったのね。不思議なことに、2往復できた後は、ダブルスっぽいラリーが続くことが多いようです。

今日、会長とペアを組んだときに「2往復させるのが秘訣だそうですよ」と耳打ちしたところ、明らかにプレーが変わりました。即効性ありです、ねぇ会長！！ (^-^
